The Debris of an Unknown Celebration is a 90-minute collection of music and poetry that revolve around blue, the color of the suspended cyanotypes that made up McKnight’s first museum commission, Light Falls at MoCA Tucson, 2021.

The installation and its aural accompaniment were made in quarantine and reflect several of the artist’s recurring interests: presence, absence, the body, light, and time. The delicate works, which hung ethereally from the museum’s ceiling, were a cathartic illustration of the artist’s psychology in a particularly trying time: amidst an unprecedented global health crisis and in advance the 2020 election.
